Buying a fountain?
Considering buying a fountain? Then we would like to
offer these suggestions
General
1) If it is a large
fountain made from stone on concrete, it should be mounted on a solid
base, such as a concrete, this will give it support and stop it from
moving.
2) Does it have a custom
made liner? These are better as they are custom made to fit the pool.
3) Does the fountain have
an automatic refill ? This will compensate for any water loss. Also if
your fountain has a high jet it will will need automatic water
replenishment, please see the JW rule for
more information.
The pump.
4) If it has several jets
does it have more than one pump? This is often better as if one pump
should fail the others will continue to operate. Often several smaller
pumps will cost less to run than one larger pump
5) Where is the pump? If
the pump is under the main fountain how can you get to it for servicing /
replacement? (some fountains have a removable hatch to access the pump)
6) How long is the
warrantee on the pump? (ours are up to 5 years)
Lighting
7) Does your fountain have
lighting? Lighting will bring your fountain alive as darkness falls.
7a) Are spare lamps readily available?
8) If lighting is fitted is
in on a separate circuit? Its pointless having the lights on in daylight,
we suggest either a timer or photocell to turn the lights on / off.
Nozzles
9) If it has a spray ring
can you remove the jets for cleaning? (not all can be removed)
9a) Are any nozzles easily removable for cleaning?
Electricity Supply
10) By Law the fountain
must be protected by an RCD
10a) Is the supply cable
suitably mechanically protected?
Please note: We can not take responsibility for a
fountain we did not supply. The above information is for guidance only.
