Fountains
on T.V., sprinklers
How come I have
seen on several TV programmes they make a
fountain in minutes, just put a pump and nozzle in a pool, fill and switch
on. Your site says its not that simple. I say, You must be wrong!
As said "On TV", On TV a man can fly, run faster than a
train,......etc.
With all things for TV it has to be "entertaining" so what you don't see is
the hole being dug for the sump, the sump being taken out to alter the
base level so the water will be level, it all has to be done, its just
they don't show you, because you would not find it "entertaining" watching a
hole being dug, and waiting for a sump to fill. (Yes, some times you see
the presenter start to dig for a sump, or start to fill it with water, but
you never see it being done from start to finish) As for the pump and nozzle it is similar. It is set up and
tested before you see it done.
Suppose you were the "specialist" presenting it, would you take say half a dozen pumps and
nozzles and test each one in front of the camera to see which worked /
looked best?
Of course not. You would either work it out or do it else where so all the
camera would see, is you putting in a sump that fitted perfectly first time, then
add a nozzle and pump that also worked right first time.
Still doubt us? try this.
Fill your bath with water, sit and watch it fill, no really sit and watch
(and time it)
Wait till its nearly full. (Turn off the tap now) How "entertaining" was
that? It wasn't was it, and most ponds have more water than a bath does.
That should show why on tv things always work first time. (They edit out
what they don't want you to see, like wise they edit out the boring bits)

I brought a sump pump to run a garden sprinkler from a local stream,
the sprinkler doesn't work, why?
The pump you have is too small, it does not have enough pressure. The
"average" sump pump has a pressure of 0.6 bar. There is a pump available
(we do not supply it) that has a pressure of 3.4 bar and it can pump up to
34 metres in height, that will be enough to run up to 3 sprinklers.

My customer has bought a twelve piece stone effect fountain surround. I
think its a resin based product and is very light. What is the preffered
way to stick the components together. Someone has suggested silicone, that
cant be right. Surely tile adhesive would be better suited. Any
suggestions.
Perhaps it does not need to be stuck together. We suggest that you ask the manufacturer or where it was brought from what they recommend.
Failing that, try both (Silicone and tile adhesive) see which is better.
