Fountain restoration
Restoring a fountain should be a case of changing any old, worn
or damaged parts, with the idea of having the fountain working exactly as
it used to. Unfortunately this is not always the case. If we can not supply like for like we will try and suggest
compatible alternatives, but in order to do so we will require as much
information as possible, pictures also help a great deal.
Restoring a fountain / water feature can sometimes
be cost prohibitive if there is too much to be replaced or repaired, We
once
had to condemn an old musical fountain as it was cheaper to build a new
one than repair the old one. (Not to mention the labour costs)
We will do our best with the information you provide. Before you undertake
fountain restoration we suggest you check the following.
Does the pool actually hold water without leaking?
Over time if a liner or "sealant paint" was used, these can become damaged
and will need to be replaced, These should be checked first as without a
pool to hold water you have no fountain.
Is there a safe electricity supply connection?
If
the supply cable is damaged or too short it must be replaced. Its not
uncommon for some people to bury a cable in concrete as the pool is
cast. If this is the case it will be very expensive to repair. Ideally a
brass cable inlet termination has been used and these can often be undone,
but not always.
Space
Although
changing like for like, will there be enough room for new or multiple
energy efficient pumps? and or water cleansing
The
budget
Restoration can often involve more than "meets the eye" If for
example all looks well and you fill it with water what if you find it
leaks. If the nozzles are all blocked and are corroded tight, you may have
to consider changing them all.
NOTES:
If
the structure of the pool, fountain or feature is "falling apart"
that is not something we can assist with.
