Frozen water feature

Never run a fountain or water feature if the water may freeze.

We did so you can see what happens.

The surface water will turn to ice, Chances are the outlets will freeze too. If they don't or when it starts to thaw leave your feature of fountain off until there is no ice and no freezing weather.

Why, where will the pumped water go? if as this fountain has you have a solid layer of ice the pumped water will hit the ice and flow over the edges so emptying the pool, but it will look full because of the layer of ice on the top.

We made drain holes in the ice so we could take these pictures for you. But if it gets too cold the drain holes will re freeze, that is why we recommend you do not run your feature until there is no ice.
