Fountain head height
Head height, or how high can a pump pump to?

Take these two pumps for example. They
look the same, so should be able to do the same thing?
These are actually 2 different models of pump. |

Although crude, this is how a pumps head height is established.
The black support pipe is marked in 30cm intervals (We chose 30cm
intervals to make it clearer, no other reason)
The support pipe is holding a clear P.V.C. pipe which then has
the pump connected at one end. |

This is the maximum height the smaller pump could reach. |

Here is the 2nd pump, the water is just above the letter U |

The above is only an illustration of how it is
done, in reality the amount of water that can flow at specific
heights is also measured, this is then used to compile a flow graph
for each pump.
