Light a fountain
Lighting a fountain, there are some things you should
consider. Its very easy to put a light "anywhere" and think it will be
fine, yes it will light up, but will it be suitable?
The following pictures are all the same set up, the
light was the only thing moved, except the "side" picture, the camera was
moved to view the side.

|
Lit from above Above, you can clearly see the surrounding area,
and the jet is not that well lit, also how are you going to support the light? (We suspended it from a
pole supported at either end, (which of course you cant see, but imagine
of you could, two big support frames and a pole, just for one light) |

Lit from behind
Behind, the viewer will only see a bright glare as the light is
shinning directly into your eyes, and the water is hardly lit at
all. |

 |
|
Lit from in front In front the
light illuminates the whole of the background which is very distracting,
and the light will cast shadows on anything |

Lit from one side
One side, the water is well illuminated (Only from this side, any
other side and it will be worse) and you are also
distracted by what you see to one side of the jet. |

Lit from below
Below, the water jet is lit no matter where you look at it from, there
are no distracting shadows or lighting somewhere that should not be
lit, this is how lighting a fountain should be done |
