Fountain Information

Pipe diameter

Pipe diameter, is it that important?

Will a vulkan nozzle (For example) be suitable for an existing water feature ("bird bath" for example) that has no nozzle?

Most water features only require a small water flow so they often have a small diameter pipe, around 12mm in diameter. A vulkan 43-3T has a one inch inlet so already you can see there is a problem. We can however supply adaptors to make it fit, but the one thing we can not do is change the laws of physics. If a vulkan 43-3T requires 42 litres / minute to have a jet height of 50cm, how will you get 42 litres / minute down a 12mm diameter pipe?

The pictures below show what happens if you try

12mm pipe   15 mm pipe   22mm pipe

For the unsure, to the left are the three pipe sizes.
