You really can have the wrong fountain pump.

		Nice big looking pump, nice nozzle should be good?

		And here it is working, its good isn't it?

		No, its not, here it is again with an identical nozzle but on another pump. Now that's what you call a fountain jet

		Here is the first pump sitting next to a fountain pump, they both have the same nozzle

The reason it doesn't work is because the bigger pump is actually a filter pump. Filter pumps are designed to move large volumes of water but not with any great pressure, not to mention the fountain pump is cheaper.
