Wrong fountain nozzle

Wrong fountain nozzle,  that can not be right, can it?

Well, yes it can. Often people think that you can put "any nozzle" onto a pump and it will work, this is not so.

Allow us to show you a typical wrong nozzle scenario.

  Here is a Vulkan 43-3T

(42 x 3mm diameter jets, 1 x 6mm diameter jet)

It weighs 1.5 KG, it also has a 1 inch inlet.

Here it is mounted on a pump which is too small and it is fed by a 15mm pipe. To make it physically fit we had to use several adaptors.

The first thing that should indicate something is wrong is the weight of the nozzle compared to the pump, the pump is far too light.

The second thing is the pipe diameter, it needs several adaptors to make it fit the nozzle.

With the pump running, it simply will not work, this is because  most commercial  fountain nozzles have a high water demand a small pump can not supply enough water to operate the nozzle correctly.

Here is the same set up with a different nozzle, although a better jet height is achieved, it shows that water demand of nozzles must be taken into consideration.

Here is a vulkan 43-3T working as it should

A good supplier should ask you what is the intended use / what pump

Before you specify a nozzle please make sure it is suitable for the application, if you are not sure, please ask.
